Roy Oldershaw
Director
Roy Started off in Engineering at the very bottom at Rolls Royce, working hard to fund a family and carve out a career.
Found that I felt like a number, and that there were no real opportunities, and felt frustrated by the fact that I always wanted to do more, and it felt like I was being held back. So, in the evenings I decided to undertake study at Uni part time, and worked loads of hours to self-fund my way into a career.
I often felt that I was being held back because I did not have the qualifications, but I did have the drive.
Changed employers every two years aiming to step my way to the top, and was chasing a dream, I just wanted to be in control of my own destiny as along the way had faced cuts and redundancies, and rather than people trying to do more they did less, which meant the companies needed to get rid of more people.
I found that my skill set alongside Quality and Engineering, was actually being able to control multiple order books, and drive sales into businesses, and make it personal.
Every date I offered I made sure we aimed to meet, and it was with this drive, that companies grew working with the team, and motivating people to do more, to make their futures certain.
Took a career path change away from Fabrication and Machining, and into Vac forming, as a process is process, engineering disciplines just need the same continued drive into making things happen.
I then went to work with private investors, grew companies for a number of years, but again it was not for me, it was for other people, and when an opportunity arose, working with my now business partner Nicolas, we decided to map out our future together.
Initially starting with 5 personnel, within 2 years we had attained turnover from £250k per annum to Circa £3M
Growth is hard to achieve, as there are so many differing things to make sure you have your eyes on, BUT, with the feeling that everything we do is personal to us, we take it seriously. From the bottom to the top in our business, the customer is king, and we deliver to due date.
We don’t chase a monthly figure around, we chase the delivery of product, right first time, to the highest standard, and at a cost that is acceptable to both us and the customer.
Making the relationship personal means that when anything happens, if there ever is a failure, then we all feel responsible for that, not just one person, and we address how we got to that.
My vision for the future is simply to keep working, and make as many persons future as we can secure in a market place that needs fresh impetus and drive from people.
Self-determination is what is needed to succeed, and we try and encourage school leavers from the very start to always try and do their very best in anything that they do, as the first impression counts, it’s an example of who we are, and we should be proud of that.
